A gooseneck pipe has a full 180-degree curve which is used to prevent water from overflowing in certain areas. It will then flow reverse back into the surface of the sink. Gooseneck pipes are quite common in bathroom sinks as well as other parts of any home. However, gooseneck pipes do not function as needed sometimes and people will remove them when remodelling a bathroom. As a result, it is necessary to remove gooseneck pipes from the sink drainage line. It is a relatively simple task to remove a gooseneck pipe even for a plumbing amateur. Step 1 – Before beginning you will need to collect the proper materials and adjust you sink piping. You will need replacement piping or gooseneck pipe of the same size, adjustable pliers and Teflon tape. Step 2 – Shut off the water supply to the bathroom sink so no water will flow through the pipes. It may be necessary to turn off the water supply of the entire home if your bathroom sink doesn’t ave a manual shut-off valve. Step 3- Unfasten the gooseneck pipe by using you pliers. Gently loosen the nuts and screws that attach the sink drainage system to your gooseneck pipe. Once you remove the nuts, you should be able to remove the gooseneck pipe. Step 4 – It is necessary you replace the pipe underneath the sink before turning the water back on. You may setup the new drainage system or fit a new gooseneck pipe of the exact size. Also make sure you follow all the instructions from the manufacturer’s booklet. Step 5 – Turn on the water supply and enjoy your new bathroom sink.
